Introduction to major
the M.S., and the Ph.D. degrees, as well as positions for post doctoral studies.
The department currently includes seven faculty members with twenties graduate students.
The department provides a broad range of fundamental knowledges including general microbiology,
microbial pathology, microbial taxonomy, applied &industrial microbiology, food microbiology,
marine microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, virology and cell biology.
These programs provide an understanding of concepts and principles of unseen world of microbiology
and basic experimental research techniques for studying in this field. Students spend their junior
and senior years taking courses and doing research rotations in laboratories of the department.
The graduate programs aim to the understandings of trends in life sciences and high quality research
techniques necessary in the field, and opens 37 graduate courses. The department is well equipped
with modern instrumentation essential to conduct a wide variety of researches. One exciting feature
of the department is the active weekly seminar series with superior national and international speakers.
In addition, weekly presentation by students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty provide opportunities
for close interactions, exchange of ideas, and critical evaluation of ongoing research results.
